It's here! The launch of my first published pattern making its debut on my official website.
This cowl design was born from working with a customer on a cowl idea they wanted for their mom. The criteria was to be oversized, with the capabilities to be worn around the head for walking her dogs outside in the winter. I knew that oversized meant that the neckline would also be oversized, making the warmth around the head minimal. With my needles and some yarn, I set out to create a tapered looking cowl that sat widely around the chest and shoulders. With intentional increases this cowl work up really quickly and provides a functional and fashionable winter accessory for the cold winter season.
For the pattern release I will be offering this cowl for $1.00 CAD on its release. I will be donating 100% of all sales to the Sick Kids Hospital of Toronto. For those who know me, you know I have a daughter with special needs. She has an extremely rare diagnosis that has only about 400 known cases worldwide. Since August of this year, she has been on a rollercoaster of pain and great discomfort. Her syndrome affects her as she is missing a portion of one of her 9th chromosomes. That tiny portion of genetic material impacts her significantly in her development. Her biggest health concern from day one was the malfunctioning of her gastrointestinal system. To spare you the details, we pray for poop - daily. She sees a variety of specialists at Sick Kids, but her GI doctor has been our "go to"during this long season of unknown suffering. Recently, she was admitted to Sick Kids and underwent extensive investigative procedures to try to help our little girl out. While she isn't better, we have welcomed her home after 5 days with a plan in place to help bring her back to her happy, normal self. I only see it fitting to take this $1 cost and donate it to the hospital that has been everything for our little girl. This sale promotion will end on Tuesday, December 25, 2018.
I thank you all so much for your support in this new adventure! I hope there will be more patterns available here and of course finished knitwear items for purchase. If you aren't a knitter and would like a cowl for yourself, stay tuned after the holiday season for some listings to purchase your own Sundry Cowl and much, much more!
